Two weeks ago or so I bumped into a gentlemen I met at a local Gideon's meeting last year. (I was invited to that meeting by Rex Wildman, my wife's Grandfather, a long time Gideon). I spent several moments with he and his wife... it might seem a little strange to some of you, but right then, I knew I was to be involved specifically with what the Gideon's were doing, at the same time I also knew my involvement was to be a bit outside the box. We finished our conversation and needless to say, he didn't let me walk away without a brand spankin' new little pocket sized New Testament.
Later that afternoon, I was at our family business fumbling thru our lost & found box looking for a set of keys for one of our customers. This is a pretty common thing for us, since we launder over 40,000 garments a week and tens of thousands of pounds of linen. But it had been several years since I had personally gone thru the box. Anyways, as I was digging thru it, this little New Testament caught my eye (in photo). It has a copyright date of 1900 and was in 1925 it was apparently the property of Ms. Lois R. Hamilton of Gas City.
Tonight as I was driving with my boys thru Marion, on our way to a basketball tournament Cobe Vanhouten pulled it out and carefully thumbed thru the pages. Then I showed him the brand new Gideon's version. I turned down the radio for a minute and asked him to read the intro... That's when I knew for sure that these two little events were orchestrated.
